Bear Orphanage

Birthdate: Nov 19, 2007
Arrived: May 5, 2008
Gender: Male

Bear Orphanage consists of two five-acre habitats. Each habitat can house up to nine bears. We already have four black bears in one area, and our three new bear cubs will be released into the other five-acre habitat this fall. They will stay there until they are old enough to join the other four bears. Each habitat features forest and meadow areas along with ponds and dens which are all part of the natural ecosystem for the bear. Holding areas and feeding areas are also part of the habitat, allowing the staff to safely feed the bears and monitor their health.

We are offering these bears and other future rescues an enriching habitat that will provide for the mental and physical well-being of the bears as well as an exciting, educational experience for all those who visit. There is a nature trail that will be used to provide educational tours to the visiting public. There are two observation decks built along this trail that allow the public a wonderful vantage point from which to view these magnificent animals in a natural setting.

Here at IEAS, we are strongly devoted to educating the public about the importance of preserving these amazing beings and about the importance of their emotional well-being. Allowing the public to see these animals in their natural setting, provides us with an excellent opportunity to do just that. We are planning on building a third observation deck along the nature trail later next year. You can help in this endeavor by donating today.
