Rani

Rani

Birthdate: Apr 4, 1987
Arrived: Mar 1, 1989
Gender: Female

Rani was confiscated in a Wise County drug bust, and the North Texas Humane Society facilitated her placement at IEAS. She was about 19 months old when she arrived. Everyday is a good day for Rani who has called IEAS home for over twenty years. Rani, who will be 23 years old in the Spring of 2010, is the oldest resident of IEAS, and we strongly feel our Emotional Enrichment Program contributed greatly to her living a long, joyful life. Taking care of an animal's emotional well-being, is just as important as providing for their basic needs such as a proper diet and veterinary care. Rani is one of the most affectionate felines here at IEAS, and she enjoys affection and attention from just about anyone. Our Behaviorist, Louis, began working with Rani about five years after she arrived. Their relationship is built on trust, security and respect. She enjoys and yearns for his attention and affection. When Louis arrives at the Sanctuary, she will come out of her house and wait near the gate for him to come say hello, rub her back and stand or sit by her while she moans her pleasure. When she is given an new enrichment item such as pumpkin, she would rather pay more attention to Louis and play with the pumpkin after Louis leaves because she views Louis as a source of security, comfort and affection. She is also a favorite with visitors and interns. Our interns also partake in our Emotional Enrichment Program through a protective contact setting. When our interns visit her, she welcomes them with a chuff and affectionate moans. She will lie next to the fence near them for hours. You can visit Rani on a tour and see for yourself that she truly enjoys her life here at IEAS. You can see just how important it is to provide for an animal's emotional well-bing and the benefits that can be reached by doing so. We feel that the emotional well-being and will to live is a strong contributor to a long life. Rani is a great example of why our Emotional Enrichment Program is recognized as one of the best worldwide. You can help support Rani.

Personality Traits

Rani's gentle demeanor makes her a wonderful adoptive animal that is always willing to pay attention to all her friends. She always has time for visitors and especially for Louis. Rani's endless chuffing and affectionate moans could probably win the award for "Most vocal and endearing IEAS Tiger." She makes the hearts and souls of every visitor and staff member melt. Adopting Rani entitles an individual, couple or family to share in this very enchanting IEAS success story.
