Shasta was confiscated from a private residence in Longview, Texas when he was about 10 to 12 weeks of age. He is very much an unpredictable and obstinate teenager and probably will be for his entire life. He will let you know when he doesn't like something; actually he "shows" you. When Shasta is not fond of his meals or they are not properly mixed, he places his bowling ball into his platter and then rolls the sixteen pound weight round-and-round until his leftover food is nothing more than a finely ground puree pushed along the edge of the pan. Shasta may not be the most vocal cougar, but he does enjoy visits from people every now and then. He will lay by the fence next to his cave or on his perch and just wait for you. When you approach, he will welcome you with a cougar meow and just watch you as you sit.
