Simba III

Simba III

Birthdate: Dec 23, 1995
Arrived: Nov 6, 1997
Gender: Male

The U.S. Department of Agriculture seized Simba III from a roadside petting zoo, and he was brought to IEAS by the SPCA of Dallas. When Simba III first arrived at IEAS, he was extremely malnourished and underweight. It's a conservative estimate that Simba was 150 pounds underweight when he arrived. This was a challenge when it came to feeding him his diet. He would end up getting sick because he ate his meal so quickly. So the Director of IEAS, Richard Gilbreth, became Simba's personal Chef as this emaciated tiger began getting six specially prepared one pound meals a day in order to get his digestive track on-track to accept a more beneficial diet. Once Simba reached his ideal weight, we began feeding him twice a day and eventually just once a day. It took time, but all we were worried about was keeping Simba happy and healthy. He had been physically mistreated as well and had a deep-seated distrust of humans that has taken years to overcome.

During his first months as IEAS, Simba III and Richard quickly developed a close and trusting bond; this almost comatose tiger began to chuff and prance whenever his first real human buddy came by even for just a visit. He knew Richard was the one who went to help transport Simba from the deplorable condition he was in. He has come a long way since his first days at IEAS. Help support Simba III.

Personality Traits

Simba III now has trust and security with the entire IEAS staff whether it's when his current 13 pound breakfast is delivered or when the lawn surrounding his habitat is mowed. There is a bench sitting right next to one of Simba's favorite "habitat lounge areas;" adoptive parents should be forewarned--the privilege of sitting adjacent to this tiger can become more addictive than chocolate, laptops and DVD's combined! While visiting Simba, you can tell by the look in his eyes that he is grateful to Richard and all who helped give him a better life. One which he deserved from the beginning.
