Scooter and Greta escorted the tour around Bear Orphanage. They both sat right by the observation deck and gave the guests some good photo ops. Scooter loves when visitors come by! Scamp was too lazy to follow the tour all the way around. Instead, he made himself comfortable by one of the trees and watched from a distance.

Thursday
October 13
After a day of rest, Scooter and Scamp were ready to play. They were rolling around the forest area rough housing together. Greta was busy playing with a twig near one of the trees having fun by herself.

Wednesday
October 12
The bears were enjoying the morning rain. Greta, Scooter and Scamp were all lounging in the tree enjoying the weather. By afternoon, they were still in a lazy mood. Scamp was laying at the base of the tree while Greta was still napping. Scooter had moved to another tree to nap in. Lazy days for the bears.

Monday

After a day of rest, they were playing all morning. Scamp and Scooter were rolling around in the meadow with Greta close by getting in cheap shots now and then. They weren't even tired by the afternoon; they were still playing. Only this time they were having fun in the trees.

Rain, Finally! The bears were huddled in their cave during most of the day rain. However, by late afternoon, when the rain died down, they were ready to play. Scooter and Greta were chasing each other around the meadow while Scamp was slow to get started.

The bears were not interested in playing much during this cool, cloudy day. They hung out under the trees relaxing most of the afternoon. Scooter was the only one who came out for peanuts.

Thursday
October 6
Greta was the playful one today. She was wandering out in the meadow by herself at first, then she ran back and got Scooter to chase after her. Scamp did eventually come out to join in on the fun. They played for most of the morning. By late afternoon, they were ready for some much needed rest. Scamp was napping on one jungle gym while Scamp was passed out on the other. Greta was, of course, in her tree.

It was a fall-like day and the bears enjoyed it. They were lounging around in the trees this morning. By evening, all three were enjoying the meadow together. They just roamed around, rolled in the grass and played with twigs.

Tuesday
October 4
Scooter and Scamp had a blast wrestling in the meadow this afternoon. Greta was too comfortable where she was at and just watched from the tree. This afternoon, they did enjoy a special treat of tons of watermelon though. That is Scooter's favorite.

Monday
October 3
It was a water day for the bears. Greta and Scooter were splashing around in one of their water tubs while Scamp was relaxing in another. After a cool down, they were ready for some action, and the boys started playing together. Greta watched from the water a while before joining in.

Sunday
October 2
Scooter and Greta were sleeping in their big tree most of the morning. Scamp was in the brush at the base. By lunch, Scooter made his way down and he and Scamp started playing in the meadow. Greta took her time coming down, but eventually came to join the boys later in the afternoon.

Saturday

Scooter, Greta and Scamp got off to a late start today. They were still sleeping at the base of a tree, huddled together around 11am! However, they did make their showing for the tour. Scooter was the first to come over to greet the guests followed by Scamp and Greta. They just love when people come by for a visit.

Scooter and Scamp were sunning themselves this morning. They were both laying in the meadow while Greta was in their favorite tree napping. By evening, they hadn't moved far. They were lounging near some trees just enjoying the cool afternoon breeze.

Greta, Scooter and Scamp were having a little too much fun in the trees today. They ended up breaking a big branch off during their play. Don't worry, Scooter jumped to another branch just in time. By evening, the boys were hanging out in the holding area relaxing by their water.

Tuesday

Today was a lazy day for the bears. They were all napping in the forest area in the morning. At feeding time, Greta was the only one to come over right away, while the boys took their time making it to the holding areas. Later on in the evening, they were all napping again up in their favorite tree. Maybe they are saving some energy for the cooler weather that is coming this week!

Greta, Scooter and Scamp spent the morning playing in the trees and running around in the meadow area. They finally settled down for a nap in a brush area before lunch. They must have still been napping at feeding time, and didn't wander over to eat until about 15 minutes before their meal was served!

The bears were enjoying the weather today. After playing in the trees in the morning, they decided to venture out and visit our tour guests as they walked through Bear Orphanage. Later, Greta, Scooter, and Scamp were happy to have a visit with Animal Behaviorist, Louis and his helper, Nissa.

Thursday
September 22
The bears were snuggled in their tree when the cold front came through this morning. Once it cooled off, they weren't moving from that spot. Once it warmed up a bit, they swapped trees and started playing. All three were playing in the branches. By evening, they were ready to rest again and made their way to the cave.

Wednesday

Greta, Scooter and Scamp followed the tour around today. Those three love when guests come to visit the Sanctuary. They always start playing for the guests once they reach the observation decks. By evening, they were chilling in the forest area playing with the grass.

Tuesday
September 20
Scooter and Scamp spent the afternoon playing in the meadow today. Greta was sitting close by watching as she played with some strands of grass. After a while, she got bored with them and started back towards the forest. However, Scooter quickly drew her back by running over and jumping on her. Greta ran back over and joined in on the fun.

Greta, Scooter and Scamp spent the morning lounging in their favorite tree catching the breeze. They did eventually come down to snack on their lunch, but then went back for a nap. By evening, their energy was stored up and they were chasing each other around the forest area. Just enjoying the cooler weather.

The bears were in a lazy mood this afternoon. Greta and Scamp weren't at all interested in their peanut party. Scamp was napping in the cave while Greta was napping at the base of their favorite tree. But, of course, Scooter was ready for some peanuts. He came right over to enjoy some treats.

Greta and Scooter were wandering around in the meadow this morning. After lunch, all three bears ended their day in the tree. They were all three enjoying the breeze coming through this afternoon.

September 14
Another lazy day for the bears. They were all laying in wait for their lunch. After eating, Greta and Scooter spent the rest of the afternoon napping in the trees. During the early evening, the boys were out and about wandering around their meadow and forest areas. Greta still hadn't moved from her spot in the tree though.

Scooter, Greta and Scamp were playing in the meadow this morning. The boys were playing near a brush pile for a while and then Greta came to join in on the fun. By afternoon, when it warmed up, they were ready for a nap. All three were snuggled in their cave sleeping right after lunch. By evening, they were all just hanging out on their jungle gym.

The bears were wound up today. Greta was running around the forest, in and out of the holding area trying to get Scooter and Scamp to chase her. They were in no mood as they were focused on food at the time. Greta eventually calmed down and came to eat. However, after eating, Scooter was ready to answer her call to play. They chased each other around, playing for quite a while.

Saturday
September 10
Scamp and Scooter were the only two to show up for the tour today. Greta decided to relax at the base of a tree rather than follow the tour around to the observation deck. Scooter of course greeted the visitors with his affectionate moan and then once at the observation deck, he and Scamp started playing in one of the brush piles. Leave it to Scooter to put on a show for the visitors of IEAS.

Friday

Greta and the boys hung out in the holding areas most of the day. They were just relaxing on the jungle gym together. By evening, they were ready to explore and play. They were in the meadow wandering around and digging in their brush pile. Eventually, Scooter and Greta started chasing each other around. They were just enjoying to cool evening.

September 8
Scooter was in heaven today. We had a bunch of watermelon donated to give them at lunch. That is one of Scooter's favorite treats! He went from his pan, to Greta's and then Scamp's to get all the melon he could. Greta didn't mind since she has a sweet tooth and goes for the sweets first. Scamp was enjoying the salmon first thing. At least they all got their favorites today.

The cooler weather was a pleasant Labor Day surprise for the animals. The bears were living it up. Scooter, Scamp and Greta were in the trees most of the day but then went and played in the meadow area. They were having fun chasing each other around.

The bears had fun following the tour around Bear Orphanage today. Scooter and Greta always love the extra attention and Scooter always greets visitors with an affectionate moan. By afternoon, they were ready for a nap. They were napping in the cave before peanut party. The boys of course came out for some peanuts, but Greta was too comfortable to move from her spot.

Scamp was all about attention today. During peanut party, he made himself comfortable next to Louis to get his belly rubbed. After a few minutes of this, Scooter got a little jealous and wanted some attention himself. However, he didn't stay long; peanuts were more important at the time.

Scooter and Greta were having some fun playing in the meadow this morning. Scamp was cooling off in one of their water tubs. By lunch, all were ready to eat and then ready for a much needed nap. However, by early evening, they were ready to go. Scooter was wound up and chasing both Greta and Scamp around the holding areas.

The bears must have had a long night. They were napping in the trees for most of the morning. They were ready for lunch when it arrived and wasted no time digging in. After their peanut party, they spent the evening playing in one of the water tubs and in the forest area. Looks like they are going to have another long night of play.

Scooter and Scamp spent the morning playing in their forest area. Greta was up in the big tree catching the breeze. That is where she stayed most of the day. She did make her way down for lunch, but after she was done eating and playing a bit, she was right back in the tree by early evening.

The bears were hanging out in the meadow together this morning. When a tour came by, of course they were right there to greet them as they entered Bear Orphanage. This evening, they spent the day hanging out in their holding areas playing on their jungle gym. Well the boys were playing while Greta was cooling off in the water.

Greta, Scooter and Scamp took advantage of the morning and played in the meadow. By lunch, they were all staying cool in their cave. They continued to relax the rest of the day laying under one of their many trees.

Scooter spent the morning lounging in the meadow while Greta and Scamp were playing in the tree together. By lunch, they were all napping in cave waiting on their peanut party. This evening, they were ready to explore and were digging around one of their brush piles.

All three bears were staying cool in their water tub today. They spent the morning roaming around the meadow area, and then the afternoon playing in the water. By late evening, they were ready for a good rest. Scooter and Scamp took a nap on the jungle gym while Greta laid right underneath them.

Scooter and Greta spent the morning splashing around in the water tub. Scamp was lounging up in a tree napping as they played. However, by late afternoon, they were wound up and ready to go. All of them were ready to play and were chasing each other in and out of the holding areas.

Scooter, Greta and Scamp spent the morning lounging in the meadow. After lunch, they were ready for their peanut party. Scooter was the first to show up to snack on some peanuts...as usual. By evening, they were rested up and ready to play. They were playing in the forest area together, rolling in the grass.

The morning rain put everyone in a good mood today. The cooler weather helped out a lot as well. Scooter and Greta were chasing each other around the meadow and playing, while Scamp was playing with some twigs on their brush pile. By afternoon, it was still time to play only this time it was in the trees.

Scamp had some fun playing in the tree while Greta and Scooter played on the ground underneath him. By afternoon, they were ready for their peanut party with Louis. Scamp came right over to get his belly rubbed. Scooter was in the tree at this time, but slowly made his way down for his peanuts. For the first time, he was actually the last one to arrive at the party.

Despite the extreme heat, Scooter, Greta and Scamp all enjoyed their visit from Louis today. They were ready and waiting when he came to feed them. These three youngsters, along with the rest of the bears of IEAS are enjoying a special treat in their diet these days...salmon! A big thank you to Kroger in Keller, TX for donating two pallets of salmon for the bears!

The bears were hanging out in the meadow this morning. They were rolling around in the bushes and playing with the twigs. Scooter was the first to go check out the tour that was going by. Scooter and Greta slowly followed, but they were too interested in leaving the comfort of the shade today. You can always count on Scooter to come visit during tours. No weather seems to keep him away as he loves the attention!

Greta took a long nap in their favorite tree this morning. The boys were hanging out on the jungle gym relaxing. After lunch, they were ready to cool off in the water. Greta took her time coming down for lunch, but after eating, she was energized and ready to play.

Tuesday
August 2
The interns had an audience while painting Khera's new house. Greta, Scooter and Scamp were lined up watching the interns work. Later in the day they were all cooling off together in one water tub. They weren't playing, just relaxing in the cool water.

The bears were in a mellow mood today. Greta and Scamp stayed cool in their cave while Scooter cooled of in the water tub. By evening, they were just roaming around their forest and meadow areas just being bears. They were poking around and digging under a few stumps.

A grasshopper kept Greta entertained a while. She followed it with every hop until it finally flew away. Scooter and Scamp were busy playing in the water to pay any attention. When the boys were finished, Greta took her turn cooling off in the water.

The bears enjoyed their peanut party today...as always. They were all cooling off in their cave but came right out when Louis came with the peanuts. Later in the afternoon, they were all watching the staff of IEAS do some work on a neighboring habitat. They always love the show. Greta and Scamp ended up cooling off in the tub while Scooter sat curiously watching.

Well, Greta, Scooter and Scamp received some enrichment today. The black bears got some fruit blocks this afternoon to help keep them cool. All the bears enjoyed poking at the ice to find some of their favorite fruits inside. Even though they had their food right next to them, they still enjoyed the surprise of what they would find next!

Greta was in a playful mood today. She chased Scamp up a tree where they played together for a while. After tiring each other out, Greta came down to relax in her water tub.

Scamp was having fun in the tree today. He was playing with branches and leaves while Scooter and Greta were splashing around in the water tub. After an adventurous morning, by afternoon, they were napping in the shade.

The boys were playing in the meadow all morning. Greta was watching from a shaded area, but then would run over to them and get a few jabs in here and there. Then she would run back to the tree and watch for another opportunity to sneak in.

Greta and Scamp played most of the morning under their holding area. Greta was wound up. Afterwards, she took a dip in the water to cool off. By evening, they were at it again. Only this time, Scooter was involved in the rough housing.

Scamp and Scooter were hanging out in the meadow this morning. Greta was taking a nap in their favorite tree. By afternoon, Greta was ready to play. She was chasing Scooter around the forest while Scamp just took a rest in some grass. He eventually started playing with them once he saved up some energy.

The bears spent the morning playing in the trees. Greta and Scooter spent the most time up playing. Scamp eventually made his way down to rest in the shade. Greta was enjoying playing with the twigs and eating the laves off the tree. When they came down by lunch, they were ready for a snack, and then back to playing in the forest.

The bears were playful today, despite the heat. They were playing in the forest area, chasing each other around. They did take a break for their peanut party and social visit from Louis. Greta and Scamp chose to share a pile of peanuts while Scooter has his own pile to finish off. After finishing their snack, they were off to play again.

Scooter is now enjoying belly rubs of his own. After watching Scamp enjoy his belly rub, Scooter now goes to Louis for his own rub down. Scooter leaned against Louis and just ended up laying down for a nap when his belly rub was finished. He seems to enjoy more than Scamp.

The bears were resting in their cave most of the morning. By late afternoon, they were ready to cool off in the water. Greta and Scooter were splashing around playing in the tub together while Scamp was relaxing in another tub by himself.

Well, the heat was too much for Scamp today. He never did come out for his peanut party and belly rub. He was staying cool in the shady brush. Scooter, however, won't let anything keep him from his peanuts. He and Greta came right over for some social time with Louis and peanuts.

Scooter was in a mellow mood today. They were all hanging out in the meadow area watching the staff work. They are always curious of what is being done around them. Scooter, Greta and Scamp just sat in the grass relaxing. By evening, they were still pretty lazy as all three were squeezed together on the jungle gym.

Greta and Scamp were hanging out in their forest area today. Scooter was in the holding area patiently waiting for his lunch to arrive. After eating, Scooter was ready to play. He and Scamp went outside the holding area and rough housed near some trees. Greta was too busy eating her pastry to worry about the boys. When she was finished, she made herself comfortable on top of the jungle gym.

The bears were pretty lazy this morning. They were lounging in their favorite tree up until lunch. By then, they were playing around one of their water tubs in the forest. After eating a bit, they went right back to playing in the bushes. By evening, it was time to be lazy again as they were all back up in the trees napping.

oneScooter, Greta and Scamp were having fun in the trees today. This afternoon they were all three playing in of their trees. Scooter was quick to come down for lunch. Greta was next to make her way down. Scamp reluctantly followed, but he still wanted to play. Instead of coming in to eat, he ran to another tree, jumped half way up the tree, then jumped down only to do it again at a different tree. He was wound up. After lunch, they all settled under a tree for a much needed nap.

Scamp and Scooter were ready for their peanut party today. Greta took her time coming over for peanuts. After filling up on a snack, the boys were ready to get wet and play. They were splashing in their water tub this evening. Greta, surprisingly, didn't want to get in the water. She just laid comfortably on top of the cave watching the boys.

The bears were relaxing most of their 4th. Greta was passed out in a tree while the boys did play a bit on the jungle gym. By evening, they were all up in the tree with Greta. The fireworks didn't seem to bother them. at all. When they first started, they perked their ears a bit and listened, but then just went back to napping. Not much seems to bother these content bears.

Scamp was being very affectionate with Louis today during their peanut party. After snacking on some peanuts and getting his belly rubbed, he ended up laying down with Louis. At one point he laid his head on Louis' arm. He was ready for a nap.

Greta, Scooter and Scamp were hanging out in their cave this afternoon. All three were huddled together taking a nap. By evening, they were ready to have fun. They were climbing in the trees playing with twigs. Scooter and Greta were even chasing each other again. They love the trees!

It was a lazy day for the bears. They spent most of their time hanging out in the holding areas. Greta was the smart one and cooled off in their tub while the boys laid on the jungle gym. They started to play but weren't that into it as neither one wanted to get up.

After following the tour around in the morning, the bears went to hang out in the holding area. When it came time for the peanut party, Scooter was ready for his peanuts. He ate every last peanut off the ground. Then he went and hung out with Greta and Scamp on the jungle gym.

Scooter, Scamp and Grete enjoyed their visit with Louis today. Scamp came over to get his belly rubbed and then went to snack on some food after. By evening, they were all out in the meadow wandering around.

The bears spent the early morning playing in their pond. By lunch, they had moved to the meadow. Scamp and Scooter were playing while Greta was sitting on the brush pile playing with a twig. By afternoon, they were catching what little breeze there was up in their favorite tree.

Wednesday
June 22
Scooter, Scamp and Greta had a busy afternoon. First, they had to follow the tour around Bear Orphanage and play a little on the way. Then they came over to see what was going on at Khera's habitat. The staff was working hard pouring the slab for Khera's new house, and the kids just laid in the shade and watched the show. However, they did take a break after a while to cool off in their pond but were quick to come back and make sure everyone was still working.

June 21
A little squirrel received a helping hand from Louis today. While feeding, Greta, Scooter and Scamp, Louis noticed a squirrel swimming around in their water tub unable to get out. Louis managed to get him out. However, the excitement wasn't over for the poor squirrel; Greta chased him up a tree right after he got out. Don't worry, the squirrel was quick enough and jumped to another tree. Poor Greta just watched from a branch as the squirrel scurried away.

Monday
June 20
Greta, Scooter and Scamp were playing in the meadow this morning. By afternoon, they were all sleeping in their cave, staying out of the heat. The eventually came out to grab a snack, but Scamp and Great quickly made their way back to the cave to keep cool. Scooter lounged on the jungle gym the rest of the afternoon.

Greta was in the mood to play in some water today. She was having fun splashing in the water tub, dunking her head under the water. The boys were busy eating lunch while she was playing. She did end up taking a break for some lunch, but then she went right back to the water. It was a good day spend in the water that's for sure.

Scooter, Greta and Scamp were in the meadow playing this morning. They were quick to come over for a honey treat. They love their honey! It didn't take them long to finish it off, and then each one went to each others pan to make sure there was nothing left. They were pretty lazy during the afternoon. They were hanging out in the forest lounging in the shade.

After a fun filled day yesterday, the bears were pretty lazy today. They were all laying in the meadow sprawled out on their backs. They spent most of the morning and even the afternoon like this. They only moved to eat some lunch and then back to being lazy.

It was a splash day for Greta, Scooter and Scamp. They spent most of the afternoon splashing in their water tubs. Scooter would run from one tub to the other playing with both Scamp and Greta. He was very wound up. Later in the evening, they were all laying in the shad for some much needed rest.

Tuesday
June 14
Scooter, Greta and Scamp were fascinated today by an armadillo that was wandering around aimlessly outside their habitat. It was walking in the middle of the nature trail oblivious to three black bears sitting close by, watching it's every move. Once the little armadillo was out of site, the bears went out and played in the meadow together.

Greta, Scooter and Scamp were in a mellow mood today. They laid around most of the morning, but then went and played in a tree at lunch. Greta and Scooter were chasing each other around in the tree while Scamp was playing with a limb on his own branch. By evening, it was time to be lazy again as they just laid around the forest area.

Greta was in a playful mood today. She was dunking her head in her water tub and eventually got all the way in and splashed around like a little kid. The boys were more mellow today and just watched her have fun. However, by evening, the boys were ready to play and had a ball rough housing together.

Greta, Scooter and Scamp spent the day in their tree being lazy. When it cooled off, they were rolling around in the grass. Greta and Scooter were playing together while Scamp was nearby rolling around by himself.

Greta, Scooter and Scamp enjoyed following the tour around this afternoon. After lunch, they ended up playing in the meadow rolling around in the grass. Greta eventually had enough and went to explore on of their brush piles on her own while the boys continued to rough house.

Wednesday
June 8
Greta and Scooter were cooling off in their water this morning. They came right over for lunch to dig into the sweets. Both loved the cake they got in their meal. After eating, they were ready to play. All three chased each other around the holding areas and then out to forest. By evening, they were just roaming around pulling at the grass and twigs.

Tuesday
June 7
Scooter was anxiously waiting for his peanut party today. He never misses a chance for more peanuts. Greta and Scooter were too comfortable napping in the cave. They did eventually come out to snack on some peanuts though. Rascal and Rowdy, their neighbors, also got a few extra peanuts as they were watching the others enjoy. During the evening hours, Scooter and Greta were roaming around the forest while Scamp was back in the cave relaxing.

Scooter's favorite for the day...watermelon! He went to every pan at lunch and ate everyone's watermelon. The others didn't miss out on much, they were too busy eating up the sweets. This evening they were all roaming around the meadow area. The boys started playing in one of the brush piles while Greta sat in the shade watching them have fun.

It was a lazy day for the bears. They spent the morning lounging in their trees and only came down for their peanut party with Louis. By evening, they just lazily walked around their forest area poking at some logs. Greta was the smart one and cooled of in the water for a while.

Greta, Scooter and Scamp spent the morning playing in their holding areas. Greta was chasing the boys around the slide. After eating some lunch, they were ready for a much needed nap. When it cooled off, they were ready to go at it again; only this time they played in the meadow.

Greta, Scooter and Scamp enjoyed playing in their water again today. Scamp was happy to get his belly rubbed by Louis during their peanut party...it's never too hot for that. Scooter wasted no time eating his peanuts. They spent he evening lounging in the shade of their forest playing with flowers and twigs.

Greta and Scamp had a ball playing in their water today. When Scooter decided to join in, they took the match over to their pond and rolled around in the grass. They were acting like little cubs again.

Wednesday

Scooter and Greta were hanging out in the tree this morning. Scamp was in a shady spot under one of the other trees. By evening, they were all ready to explore. Scooter found something interesting in one of the brush piles and was really digging to get to it. Of course this got Scamp and Greta's attention and they had to go over and check it out as well. I am not sure if they found what they were looking for or ended up just giving up on it. They had fun either way.

I don't know how they managed it, but Greta, Scooter, and Scamp we laying on top of the jungle gym together. It was a tight fit, but they seemed comfortable. When it cooled off in the evening, they were ready to play. All three were playing, chasing each other around the forest area.

Greta, Scooter and Scamp are being smart during the hot weather. Today they spent the morning playing and by lunch, they were all laying in the shade resting, almost trying to hide from the hot weather. By evening, they ventured out into the forest area. Greta was just roaming around while the boys were in the playing mood.

Scooter and Scamp were playing on the jungle gym this afternoon. Greta was smart and staying cool in their cave. During the evening hours, they didn't move to far from where they were. It was just a lazy day for them.

With summer weather here, the bears are spending quite a bit of time in their water. Scooter and Scamp were cooling off in one water tub while Greta was cooling in the other tub. After cooling off, they were ready to play and played in the meadow for a while.

The boys found a bed of wildflowers to roll around in. Scooter was even eating them in between breaks of playing. Greta came was just enjoying hiding in them and watching the boys play. Later in the day, they were all ready for a nap and were lounging in their favorite tree.

Greta and Scooter spent the afternoon playing in their water tub. They were splashing around playing together. Scamp was playing with a twig watching them from the shade of a tree. By evening, it was time to explore again. The boys headed out to the meadow while Greta stayed near the trees poking around.

The bears had fun playing in their water tubs this morning. Greta and Scamp then resumed their play near some trees while Scooter went to eat some lunch. By late afternoon, they were all out exploring their meadow. They found something interesting in one of their brush piles and started digging around in there. Bears will be bears.

Tuesday
May 24
Greta wasn't too interested in the peanut party today. After eating a few peanuts, she went over and laid under the jungle gym. Scooter of course was into his peanuts. Scamp came over and tried to share Scooter's pile, but Scooter wasn't in the sharing mood. Scamp decided to mope a bit in his cave before coming out to start on his own pile of peanuts. By evening, all was forgiven as the boys were playing in the meadow.

Monday

Scooter, Greta and Scamp spent the morning resting in their big tree. They didn't even bother coming down during the rain shower, but they did come down to eat after the rain passed. Then they played and roamed around during the evening.

Saturday

Scooter, Greta and Scamp were happy to see the sun come out today. They spent much of the morning playing in their water tubs and then went out for a romp in the meadow to dry off. Finally they all took a nap in a tree together until it was time to eat.

We waited until after the storms today to feed Scooter, Greta and Scamp. It didn't seem like the rain bothered them at all because they were all out, waiting for us when we arrived. After eating, they all climbed up into their favorite tree to hang out.

Tuesday

Scooter, Greta and Scamp were all very excited for their peanut party today. They all gathered around Louis, IEAS Animal Behaviorist, and formed a perfect little circle, eating peanuts. They stayed for a while, enjoying both their peanuts and Louis' company. Once they were done, they climbed their favorite tree to relax in the sun.

We had another large tour group today with 100 high school students. Scooter, Greta and Scamp all decided to make an appearance for the tour. They followed several of the groups around Bear Orphanage, playing together and running through the meadow. They really seem to be enjoying these tours! Later on, they were all waiting in the holding areas to be fed. Seems that all of the excitement got them hungry!

Scooter and Greta made an appearance for the tour today. They followed the tour around and roamed in the meadow while Scamp remained comfortable in the tree. They did enjoyed their peanut party, and then, by evening, they were ready to play again. They are really taking advantage of this cooler weather.

The bears spent the afternoon cooling off in their water tubs. When they were finished, the boys started rough housing. Greta spent that time playing in the tub, but it didn't take Scooter long to jump in with her and get her to join in the fun. They started chasing each other around the trees.

Greta, Scooter and Scamp put on quite a show for the tour again. They enjoy when visitors come around. They followed them around at first but then went and played together in the meadow. By afternoon, Greta and Scooter were napping the tree while Scamp was taking a dip in their pool. By evening, they were ready to explore and play a little more. The boys were sticking together as Greta played in a brush pile and watched them.

Thursday

Greta, Scooter and Scamp spent the morning in the their tree again. However, they got a surprise visit from Louis today, so they came right down for their visit. They didn't get their peanut party today, but Scamp did get his belly rub and enjoyed every minute of it. Greta enjoyed checking out her new visitors who came by to see the bears. She is always a very curious little bear.

Greta, Scooter and Scamp spent the morning in their big tree. However, by lunch, they quickly made their way down when the storm hit. They spent the remainder of the afternoon staying dry, huddled in their cave. They did make their way out in the evening to snack on some food and roam around a bit.

Tuesday
May 10
Greta and Scooter were the lazy ones today. They were lounging in a tree together most of the morning. Scamp spent the morning roaming around in the forest, and then waited patiently for lunch. He enjoyed being able to have the pick of the pans. He got all his favorites by the time Greta and Scooter came down. By evening, they were ready to play. Scooter and Scamp rough housed together while Greta joined in now and then getting some cheap shots in and then running off only to come back again and do it again.

Scooter, Greta and Scamp were enjoying another lazy day. They lounged around on their jungle gym for most of the morning. By evening, they were all laying around in the grass. Scamp took a dip in his water to cool off while Greta was poking around in one of the brush piles. Scooter was laying by a tree playing with a twig.

Scooter, Greta and Scamp spent the morning and early afternoon in the meadow. At first they were playing; then they got distracted by the tour and started following them around. Once their curiosity was met, they went back to playing, putting on quite a show for the large tour groups going by.

Scamp and Greta were playing in their cave this afternoon. Scooter was watching from outside. By evening, all three were chasing each other through the forest and up and down the trees. They were having a lot of fun today being yearling bear cubs.

After playing in the meadow and forest this morning, the bears decided to take a power nap in their trees. Scooter and Greta were in their big tree together while Scamp was napping in another tree by himself. He was the last to come down during the afternoon, but once he saw Greta and Scooter enjoying some treats, he came down to check it out. By evening, they were energized and ready to play and explore again.

The bears were well rested from yesterday. This morning they were out playing in the meadow together. They came right over for lunch. The boys enjoyed their salmon treats while Greta satisfied her sweet tooth first. After filling up on protein, Scooter went and started in on Greta's sweets. With a full belly, they decided to go lounge in the grassy area near the trees. By evening, they were out exploring.

May 4
It was a lazy day for Greta, Scooter and Scamp. They spent most of the afternoon sleeping in one of their trees. By evening, they did make their way down and roamed in the meadow a bit. Greta eventually made her way into the holding area and claimed the jungle gym as her spot of rest. The boys never did follow; instead they hung out near the trees.

Greta made it challenging for Scooter to come join the peanut party today. They were lounging in the tree, and Scooter tried to come down, but Greta wanted to play instead. Scooter was in no mood to play with the peanuts waiting. Scooter did eventually make it down, but he had to go a different way. He rushed on over to make sure Scamp didn't get all the peanuts.

Well, still raining today but that wasn't enough to keep Greta, Scooter and Scamp cooped up in their cave all day again. They spent most of the day hanging out in their favorite tree. Seems they are as happy as the rest of us to finally get some wet weather! They did come down from their tree long enough to eat though!

Rainy days. Greta, Scooter and Scamp stayed dry in their cave during the wet weather. However, they did venture out during the breaks of rain. Greta and Scooter were seen wandering around the meadow at one point, but when the rain would start back up, they took shelter in their cave.

Greta, Scooter and Scamp made an appearance for the tour today. For each tour group that went around, they followed along the fence. They were very curious of all the people. By afternoon, they were ready for lunch, and then they all settled down for a nap snuggled together under the jungle gym.

Scooter has had a speedy recovery. Watching him today, you would never tell he was sedated just 24 hours ago. They were chasing each other around in the morning climbing trees. Then he decided to cool off in his water tub a bit. After a good hard play in the morning, they were all ready for a long nap. By afternoon, they were all passed out in their large tree with no desire to come down...not even for their peanut party.

Today was an eventful day for the bears. This morning, Scooter was scheduled to be neutered. Everything went very smoothly. Greta and Scamp watched as their friend was sedated for surgery. When surgery was finished, they watched and waited for Scooter to wake up. While they waited, they did take time to snack on some lunch and decided to go play a bit, but they didn't go far from Scooter. They were very watchful over him. A few hours later, Scooter was wide awake and ready to get back with his friends. Once the gates were raised, Greta was the first to go in and love on Scooter. Scamp came after and was very gentle with him sniffing him over. By then, all three bears were tired and went to relax in the grass.

Wednesday
April 27
All three bears were playing in the meadow this morning. Greta and Scooter were chasing each other around, pouncing on one another. Scamp did join in the fun as well. At one point, Greta and Scooter were tag teaming Scamp. He is such a good big brother, and he enjoyed all the attention from them. By late afternoon, they were ready for a much needed nap. Greta and Scooter went and made themselves comfortable in their big tree while Scamp found a little bed at that base of the tree.

Tuesday
April 26
Scooter was more interested in playing with the pan than eating his peanuts today. He kept trying to turn the pan over to no avail. Scamp was busy enjoying his belly rub from Louis. He had some time to make up for, so he was enjoying every bit of it. Greta was the only one eating peanuts during the peanut part. That is until Scamp decided to come over and lay on top of her. Then they started playing a bit.

Scooter and Scamp spent the morning playing in and around one of their trees today. They kept chasing each other up and down the tree and the rolling in the grass. Greta was relaxing in their big tree most of the morning. By the evening, they were all in their holding area. Greta was still being lazy sleeping on top of the jungle gym while Scooter and Scamp played around her.

Greta, Scooter and Scamp spent their Easter relaxing. After playing in the meadow during the early afternoon, they spent most of the day in their tree. This was one of the few times they weren't interested in their peanut party. By evening, with the wind picking up, they decided to come down to explore a bit before the storms rolled in.

Greta, Scooter and Scamp were a little more active today. After spending the morning in one of their trees, they came down for lunch. This afternoon, Scooter and Greta had fun splashing around in their tub. Greta was the first to give up and went to join Scamp under a tree close by. When Scooter was finished, he was ready for a rest, only Scamp was now ready to play. Scamp tried to get Scooter to play with him, but Scooter was just too worn out. Scamp ended up going to lounge on top of the jungle gym. Greta and Scooter soon followed and made themselves comfortable underneath him.

April 22
All three bears were wound up for the tour. The visitors enjoyed watching Greta play with a stick rolling on her back while Scooter and Scamp were wrestling in the meadow near her. By afternoon, we got a preview of what's to come this summer. The bears were being very lazy. Scamp was passed out on the jungle gym. Greta and Scooter did come over for their peanut party with Louis, but it took Scamp quite a bit to come join them. Even when he did, he just laid down and lazily at the peanuts. Lazy days ahead.

April 21
Greta and Scooter explored a new tree today. We found them playing in one of their trees that we haven't seen them in before. They were having fun testing their abilities and the durability of the branches. We did hear a few branches crack under their weight, but they were quick to back up to the thicker part of the branch. Scamp was watching the show from the shade of the tree.

Wednesday
April 20
Scamp, Scooter and Greta were being an attentive audience while Richard and Roy did work around their habitat. They curiously followed them around wondering what they were doing. It didn't take them long to come eat lunch though. Once they new food arrived, they were gone. After filling their bellies, Scamp was ready to play. He kept trying to get Scooter to play with him. After no luck, Scamp decided to just lounge around and wait for someone to play with. By late afternoon, Scooter was the one to initiate play, and they chased each other around the forest for quite some time.

Tuesday
April 19
After spending the morning following a tour around, Greta, Scooter and Scamp decided to cool off in their cave. That is where they spent most of the afternoon. They did eventually come out for their peanut party, but even Scooter was slow to come out. This warmer weather is slowing them down a bit during the heat of the afternoon. However, by evening, they were ready to explore. They all made their way to the meadow and started digging through one of the brush piles.

The summer-like weather put the bears in a lazy mood today. They spent most of the day up in their big tree catching the breeze. By early afternoon, the boys made their way down for some fruit and peanuts, but Greta was too comfortable to move from her spot. By the evening, she made her way down and was playing with a branch in their holding area. Scooter had taken a dip in one of their water tubs and spent the evening playing with Scamp.

Sunday
April 17
Greta, Scooter and Scamp spent most of the morning lounging in the trees, but once the wind picked up, they came down to hang out in their forest area. During the evening, they were all hanging out in the holding area. Scooter felt like king of the jungle gym today. He was sprawled out on top of the gym with a proud look on his face. Greta and Scamp, meanwhile, were playing underneath the gym.

Saturday
April 16
Scamp, Greta and Scooter were hanging out in their forest area today. Scooter was busy rolling in the grass while Greta and Scamp were playing. They did take a break to check out one the tour groups watching them. They thoroughly enjoy the attention. After the group left, Scooter went back to rolling in the grass and Greta and Scamp rough housed a bit longer.

Friday
April 15
Greta held Scamp up from coming down for their peanut party. Every time Scamp made a move to come down from the tree, Greta would jump on him and start playing. It took him some time to get down with her rough housing, but eventually they made their way down for some peanuts. Scooter, on the other hand, was not going to let anything get in the way of his peanuts. While he was making his way down from the tree, he came across a fallen branch. Scooter just took his paw and flung the branch off the tree and came right on down. Very determined bear.

Thursday
April 14
Scooter and Greta were having fun playing in the forest today. Scooter was testing his abilities trying to reach a branch just out of reach. Greta didn't make it easy on him as she was busy nipping at his legs trying to initiate play. After about five minutes of trying, he finally succeeded and was able to pull the branch down so he could nibble on the leaves. He was having so much fun with this little branch, and by the time he was finished with it, the branch was permanently bent to the ground.

Wednesday
April 13
It was another lazy day for the bears. All three were busy lounging in their tree and weren't too interested in their food today. By evening, they did mosey on down to snack a little. After eating, it was time to lounge in the grass. Scooter was having fun rolling around in the grass. He would roll from one side, play with a twig and roll back over. He was having fun just being lazy.

Tuesday
April 12
Today, Greta was interested in the bowl rather than her peanuts. She decided to play with the bowl first before joining Scamp and Scooter at the peanut party. Scamp was a gentleman and shared his peanuts with her. After eating a few peanuts, Greta went over to the slide and splashed around in the puddle at the bottom of the slide. The boys were being too lazy to join her, so they just watched her and let her have fun by herself.

Monday
April 11
Scamp was in a playful mood today. He was playing with Scooter and Greta in their forest before lunch. When the food arrived, Scooter as always, was the first one to call it quits to come eat. Scamp and Greta continued playing and chasing each other. When Greta finally came in, Scamp wasn't finished yet; he came over and started playing with Scooter. When he realized he wasn't getting anywhere, he gave in to the food. After lunch, with a full tummy, the bears took a much needed nap. After a few hours, they were recharged and ready to go again.

April 10
Today at lunch, Scooter, Greta and Scamp decided to share the same pan. They were all circled around the pan snacking on some goodies. After eating, the boys started playing a bit, but then Scamp had to go over and get his belly rubbed by Louis. While he did that, Scooter went and tried to get Greta to play. By evening though, they were all resting together in their holding area by the jungle gym.

Saturday
April 9
Greta, Scooter and Scamp spent the day up in their big tree. They were enjoying the breeze during the heat of the day. By evening, they were ready to roam. They weren't as wound up as usual. Instead, Scooter just found a place and started digging for grubs. Greta and Scamp roamed around a bit before settling down near the base of a tree. It was just another lazy day for the bears.

Friday
April 8
It was another relaxing day for the three bears. At one point in the afternoon they were all together having a little pow wow. They sat in a circle, Scooter playing with a bush, Greta playing with a stick and Scamp just relaxing. During the evening, they decided to take a break in the holding area. Scooter and Greta were sleeping on the jungle gym while Scamp was sitting the in the grass scratching his belly.

Thursday
April 7
Scooter, Greta and Scamp were pretty lazy today. They were not interested in playing during the warm afternoon. They were interested in the 75 kids that came out for a tour. They decided to make a special appearance for the youngsters who enjoyed watching them roam around in the grass. Of course Scooter had to say hello with his affectionate whining noise which the tour found amusing.

Wednesday
April 6
Scamp and Scooter were both lounging in one of the water tubs this afternoon. Greta spent some time relaxing in the tree by herself, but once she saw Scooter and Scamp wandering around the trees, she decided to come down and join them. Greta and Scooter had a short play session before going to enjoy some snacks. During the evening, they were all just lounging around in the grass. Scamp found a stick to play with and was trying to hold it between his little paws.

Tuesday
April 5
Scooter made it challenging for one of the interns to give them fresh water today. Instead of waiting for her to fill the trough, he got right in and started playing in the water. All three bears were in a mellow mood this evening though. They were just relaxing in the grass of their forest area. Scooter did come over to say hello to one of the interns who was walking.

April 4
Greta and Scooter had a relaxing day today. They spent the morning wandering in the meadow. Then, when the tour came around, they put on a little show for them. They seem to enjoy following the tours around. By lunch they were all relaxing in their holding area. Scooter was lying on the jungle gym with Greta nearby. By evening, they were all ready for some action. The boys were chasing each other up the trees and playing. Greta was playing in a stick pile and occasionally joined in the chase.

Sunday
April 3
Scooter and Scamp decided they were going to pick on Greta today. After their peanut party, Greta was trying hard to take a nap in the shade. Scooter was the first to go over to her and start trying to play and keep her from falling asleep. Soon after, Scamp decided to join in on Scooter's fun. After a while, they all just laid with Greta, half-heartedly pawing at her every now and then.

Saturday
April 2
It was another play day for the bears. All three were splashing in the water and chasing each other most of the afternoon. Greta and Scooter were the only ones to come eat some lunch. Scamp was having too much fun climbing up trees and playing in the branches. When he was finished in one tree, he would run to another tree and do the same thing. When he did come down, it was only to get Scooter playing with him. The boys played for the rest of the afternoon. By early evening, they were all ready to relax. They found a grassy area and laid down for some much needed rest.

Friday
April 1
The bears spent the morning chasing each other in the meadow. However, at lunch, Scooter was ready to eat. He hogged all the grapes today, but Greta and Scamp were happy finishing off the sweets they got in their meals. After eating, it was time for a much needed nap. All three bears went and laid down in their cave. In the afternoon, Scooter had his own little private peanut party with Louis. Greta and Scamp were still exhausted from playing all morning. They stayed curled up in the cave together.

Thursday

Scamp spent the day relaxing by one of their many trees. Greta and Scooter were pretty mellow during the morning, but by evening they were ready to explore and have some fun. Greta decided to sift through one of their stick piles looking for something interesting underneath. Scooter roamed around the meadow area eating grass. It was a mellow day all around for the bears.

Wednesday
March 30
After a day of rest, Scooter and Greta were ready to go at it again. They were wound up and playing all afternoon. Greta was rolling in a ball of old vines, throwing it around and then taking off after Scooter. With them this wound up, Scamp decided to watch from a distance lying comfortably under a tree. Greta and Scooter did take a break for lunch, but they wasted no time getting back to their play session. This time Greta went after her rope toy yet again. The cooler weather seems to bring the friskiness out in these young bears. They sure were enjoying it.

Tuesday
March 29
A lazy day for the bears today. I am sure they were tired after playing so hard yesterday. Scooter was the only one to show up for their daily peanut party. Scamp and Greta were sound asleep at the base of tree. Greta thought about coming over, but decided that staying cuddled with Scamp was a better idea. Scooter was content though. He had a good visit with Louis and enjoyed the mound of peanuts he had all to himself.

Monday
March 28
Greta was wound up today. The boys were relaxing in the holding area while Greta was having a ball sitting on the slide playing with a rope toy. Scooter eventually saw how much fun she was having, so he went over to check it out. As soon as he got close enough, Greta pounced on him and then took off running. Scooter started playing on the slide with the same toy, so Greta came back and they rough housed for quite a bit. Scamp was the last to join in on the fun. Once he did, it started out just he and Scooter, but here came Greta sneaking behind the slide and got her shots in every now an then. They were all just enjoying the cooler weather today.

March 27
Scooter and Scamp were hanging out in the grassy area of their forest this evening. Greta was busy playing in the stick pile close by. The boys were just relaxing in the grass. Scooter found a tiny bush to start playing with. He pulled each branch down and nibbled on the leaves. By the time he was finished with it, the poor bush was no longer a standing bush but flattened to the ground. At least Scooter had some fun with it though.

March 26
Scamp, Scooter and Greta were in a devious mood today. They spent the morning playing in their water tub; however, the fun didn't stop there. They decided to play with a little piece of pipe that was showing from their filler. It doesn't matter how small it is...they will find a way to get it. Luckily only minor repairs were needed, but they sure had fun with it. Though Scamp was involved a little, he spent most of the time admiring the kids in a thick grassy area. Kids will be kids.

March 25
Scooter and Greta were having fun playing on the jungle gym this afternoon. This time it was Greta who was insistent on playing, while Scooter was just wanting to relax. Greta, like Scooter, wasn't going to give up. She kept picking on Scooter until he caved. They ended up chasing each other out to the forest area and played for quite a while. By evening, they were settling down. All three were relaxing in the grass of their forest area.

March 24
Scooter, Greta and Scamp were wandering around their forest area this morning. Scooter's main mission seemed to be digging for grubs. He found a stump and started digging. I guess he found some since he just sat at the stump eating something. Scamp came over to check it out, but didn't seem too interested. Greta, however, wanted some of her own. Scooter was a gentleman and shared his find with her. When they were finished with that stump, they went off to find some more together.

Wednesday
March 23
This morning, Scooter and Greta had fun splashing in their water tubs. Scamp just watched nearby next to a tree. When the kids were finished playing, he decided to take a relaxing dip himself. By lunch, all three were wiped out, and they found a nice shady spot to lie and took a long nap. Scooter was the only one to come out and dig into some sweets while Greta and Scamp kept napping. Greta thought about coming over, but ended up just finding a new spot to sleep. When Scooter satisfied his sweet tooth, he went back to finish his nap.

Tuesday
March 22
Scooter, Scamp and Greta spent the morning at the base of one of their trees. They all made one ball and napped together. However, once it warmed up, they all decided to venture out across the meadow to play by one of their trees. They were still playing by the time the tour made it around to them, but once Louis came for their peanut party, they all went to spend some time with him. Scooter loves his peanuts and Scamp, of course, loves his belly rubs!

March 21
It was another lazy day for the bears. Scooter decided to lounge on the jungle gym for most of the morning. Greta and Scamp were lying near by next to one of the trees. They stayed put for a good part of the day, but by the early evening, they ventured out to the large area to wander. They were just roaming around like wild bears would do.

With their water tubs filled and ready to go, Scamp didn't waste any time. He spent most of the day relaxing in the water. Of course when Scooter came to join him, it immediately turned into a splash zone. They were rough housing, splashing water everywhere. Greta went to another tub to soak in by herself. She just wanted to relax and not be bothered by the boys.

Scooter, Greta and Scamp followed the tour around today. They were being very cute and curious, but when the tour got to the observation deck, they decided to put on a show. The boys started chasing each other and playing. Greta was still just roaming around, but later joined in when Scamp came to play with her. By afternoon, they were tuckered out and took a nap in their big tree.

March 18
The bears are enjoying their pool with this warm weather. Scamp was soaking in their water tub today at lunch. After eating, Greta wanted to take a nap after filling up on some sweets. Scooter, however, was not about to let that happen. He went over and pounced on her, and they started playing. Luckily, Scamp came over to rescue her. He jumped on Scooter and the boys went at it. Greta then was able to relax while the two boys rough housed. By afternoon, they were up in the trees taking a much needed nap.

Thursday
March 17
The sunshine brought out the playfulness in the bears today. All three spent the day in the meadow roaming and play together. Scooter and Scamp especially had a blast rough housing together. Greta would keep back and get a few shots in here and there while they were distracted. When their snack came, they didn't waste any time coming to eat, though Greta wasn't too interested. She got distracted with a lizard and started following it around trying to catch it. She eventually gave up realizing the lizard was just a little too fast for her.

Wednesday
March 16
It was another lazy morning for Scooter and his friends. Scooter spent the morning lying on the jungle gym while Greta was hanging out in the cave. Scamp was busy taking a bath in their water tub and having fun though. However, by the afternoon, all three were re-energized and ready to play. They were all seen playing in the field having fun. At one point, Scooter was just rolling in a ball playing by himself. He is such a playful little boy.

The cloudy, cool weather this morning put everyone in a lazy mood today. Scooter, Greta and Scamp spent all morning sleeping in their tree. They came right down for their peanut party though. Scooter, as always, was the first one down to get his pick of peanuts. Greta and Scamp soon followed. After their peanut party, they all hung around to get some attention from Louis before heading back to the tree.

Monday

Greta was in a mellow mood today. She was just lying around wanting to take a nap. Just when she was about to fall asleep, Scooter comes right over and lays on top of her wanting to play. Greta gave in and played with him for a little while. After a while, Scooter had enough and went back to snack on some food, but Greta was just getting started. She followed him and insisted he keep playing. Those two played for quite a bit with big brother Scamp watching from the cave.

Sunday
March 13
Today, Greta and Scooter destroyed their slide that was part of their jungle gym. The slide they once slid down is now bent in the middle and curls under which makes it hard to slide on anymore. However, that doesn't stop them from using it as a lounge chair. You will still see Scamp and Greta lounging on the slide relaxing.

Saturday
March 12
Greta, Scooter and Scamp were having fun on their jungle gym today. Greta was lounging on the slide while Scamp was waiting at the top ready to slide down. Greta was being stubborn and wasn't moving, so Scamp had to climb down instead. They eventually made their way to their forest area for some relax time. Scooter was playing with some twigs he found while Greta and Scamp were playing together.

Friday
March 11
Scooter and Greta spent the afternoon lounging in their favorite tree. They thought about coming down for their peanut party but got distracted playing. They spent most of the afternoon playing in the tree. Scamp was relaxing at the base of a tree watching the kids have fun. By early evening, all bears were out in the grass playing with twigs and rough housing. They were enjoying the late afternoon sun and eating grass. They even came over to visit with one of the interns who was walking around taking some pictures. Scooter and Greta always love attention.
