Sponsor An IEAS Intern
Over the course of three to six months, IEAS interns are able to learn so many things that no textbook or professor could ever teach. Interns are involved in every aspect of the Sanctuary. They work daily with the keepers, feeding the animals, administering medications, cleaning the habitats, assisting with veterinary care, and learning about habitat construction/modification. While here, they are also able to work with our animal behaviorist and participate in behavioral/emotional enrichment programs. Every weekend, the interns provide guided conservation tours to educate the public about these magnificent animals. They also participate in several classes, learning about topics such as fundraising, firearms safety, and exotic animal laws. Each day spent at IEAS provides a new experience and an opportunity to learn.
IEAS provides housing, vehicles and a stipend to all interns. They do not have to try to find a second job in order to pay the bills. As you may know, this is a rare occurrence in the animal welfare field. Most internships in this field provide neither housing nor a stipend. We feel this is important for our interns. We allow them to devote all of their time and energy into learning about these amazing animals. However, we are only able to do this with the help of donations from individuals such as yourself.
