SERVALS ARRIVE AT IEAS!
Two new residents arrived at IEAS on Thursday, June 28, 2007. There is one male and one female. The servals are five years old. They had lived in the bedroom of a woman in Lincoln, Nebraska and had probably never stepped foot on grass before. After the woman passed away, the servals were found by the Police and Animal Control, who then confiscated the animals. The two were housed temporarily at the Folsom's Children Zoo in Lincoln, Nebraska before coming to IEAS. The two cats have settled nicely into their new home. They now have a private house for shelter, a large cave to hide out in, perches for climbing, trees, grass, and misters to cool off with. Our Animal Behaviorist and our Lead Keeper/Asst. Behaviorist have been working daily with the servals to help with the transition and make them feel safe and secure in their new, permanent home. You can help the servals by making a donation today!
NAME A SERVAL!
For a donation of $3000, we are letting two special individuals name these two servals who have come to IEAS. This money will help care for them for the next couple of years! This is a wonderful opportunity to help these animals and commemorate that special person in your life. Please call the office at 940-433-5091 for more information.
Certificate of Merit for Zookeeper Education
The American Association of Zookeepers, Inc. (AAZK) has honored the International Exotic Animal Sanctuary (formerly the International Exotic Feline Sanctuary) with the Certificate of Merit for Zookeeper Education (CMZE). The CMZE was founded by Jeff Roberts, 1976-1978 Chair, in 1978, to compliment the work of the AAZK Education Committee that had formed at that time. Through our Intern Program, we are able to educate the future animal caretakers of the world. The Intern Program was founded in 2002. Since then, we have become one of the country's leading facilities for internships working with exotic cats. We would like to thank the AAZK for recognizing IEAS for this prestigious award.
