NOVEMBER BIRTHDAYS
Nakita
Female Bobcat Born November 3, 2005
Nakita will be four years old this month! Nakita came to us in January of this year when she was left abandoned in a crate right outside of our perimeter fence one freezing morning. In April, she was moved out of our quarantine area into her new permanent home. Nakita is doing very well and is enjoying life here at IEAS. Despite having been declawed by her owners, she is still able to climb all of the trees and access all of the perches in her habitat. She is extremely playful so we have provided her with lots of fun toys and enrichment items. Her tennis balls are still her favorite toys by far!
Barnum
Male Bengal Tiger Born November 9, 1993
Simba III
Male Bengal Tiger Born November 23, 1995
Lexus
Male Lion Born November 24, 1995
Barnum is going to be 16 years old this month. Simba and Lexus will turn 14 years old. While these guys are all getting up there in age, you wouldn't know it! They still love to play! This year, IEAS has given many of the animals a new enrichment item, the fire hose ball! Laura Knepel, IEAS Keeper, had previously worked at a facility where they used these fire hose balls as enrichment and knew that the animals really enjoyed them. She contacted several local Fire Departments asking them to donate old, retired fire hoses for the animals. The Fort Worth Fire Department was able to donate enough retired fire hoses to make balls for many of the animals of IEAS. These pictures show these guys when they first got their toys! You can check out Barnum's, Simba's and Lexus' pages to see videos of when they got the balls! They love them! Thank you so much to the Fort Worth Fire Department for their generosity!
