Help IEAS Animals

GeorgeIEAS is working to raise $2,500 to purchase a used pick-up truck to aid in our Education Program. One of the duties our interns perform each day is to travel to pick up donations for the animals. Once a week, we contact Lowe's in Decatur to see if they have anything for us to pick up from the store. Lowe's has been helping the animals for years by donating items that have been returned and cannot be re-shelved, or items that are no longer being sold in the store. We are then able to sell these items in order to make money for the animals of IEAS. Many times, these items are very large and will not fit in the vehicle that we are currently using. It is a Ford Explorer and has limited carrying capacity. The vehicle that we have been using has over 200,000 miles on it and needs work. We have been putting funds into the vehicle for the last year just to keep it running. This is costing more on the upkeep than it would to get a good used one.

Bear DietsWe have also been very fortunate due to the generosity of three local food markets. Dunn's Produce in Aurora and IGA in both Boyd and Bridgeport donate fruits and vegetables every day for the bears of IEAS. We are so thankful to these businesses for caring about the animals. Donated PumpkinsIn addition to donating fruits and vegetables daily, they also donate lots of pumpkins in the fall. The bears love to eat the pumpkins and the cats, well they love to play with them. Sometimes other vendors will also donate the entire pumpkin patch that is left after Halloween. Many times we have to make two trips in order to carry all of the donated items. A pick-up truck would allow us to make just one trip, saving us both time and gas. This will help us to save more money for all of the animals at the Sanctuary.

Thank you for caring about the animals of IEAS. Your gift will help us to provide the animals with loads of fresh fruits and vegetables, not to mention one of the cats favorite enrichment items...pumpkins! As always, any amount, large or small, is greatly appreciated! Also if someone has a used pick-up they would consider donating, that would be fantastic!

Many of you may know that we usually use Fundable to do fundraisers like this. Since they began taking 9% of our funds raised, we have decided to forgo using this website so that 100% of your gifts will go directly to the animals of IEAS.

Thank you,
