Big Cat Scat
Save your garden this year! Big Cat Scat can help! Researchers have found that using a predator's feces may help to drive away pests. Big Cat Scat users have had great success in keeping wildlife, such as deer, out of their gardens and vineyards. Remember that all of the proceeds from Big Cat Scat go directly to the animals! Visit our Big Cat Scat page to learn more about it, or you can call the office at 940-433-5091 for more information.
JUNE BIRTHDAYS
Caesar
Male Siberian Tiger Born: June 1, 1997 Arrived: February 1998
Caesar will be 13 years old this month. Caesar is a very active tiger and spends lots of time having fun with his perches, pool and a 31" red boomer ball. Caesar's red boomer ball is his favorite enrichment item by far. Every morning while we feed him, he rolls around his ball and jumps on top of it. He has even tried to bring it into his house a few times even though it doesn't fit. Watching Caesar try to take his 31" diameter boomer ball into his house through his 30" wide door opening is better than priceless!
Kim & Karen
Female Bengal Tigers Born: June 16, 2008 Arrived: June 2009
Kim and Karen will be two years old this month. They were brought to IEAS by their caregivers to avoid licensing problems for their owners. These two girls now enjoy life in their new habitat that has a pool with a waterfall, perches and tress for shade. Kim and Karen enjoy playing in the pool most of the time. It doesn't matter what time of year it is. Even on the coldest day, you will see them jumping in and out of the pool playing together. They also enjoy playing with seasonal enrichment items like pumpkins. You will usually find pieces of it in the pool or water trough.
B.B.
Male Cougar Born: June 18, 1993 Arrived: January 1995
B.B. will be 17 years old this month. While here, many interns will have a project that they get to work on throughout their internship. Whether it is building a pool, a waterfall, a cave or pouring a cement slab for a house, it is always something that will enrich the lives of the animals they are working for. Back in 2005, interns built a cave for B.B. To this day, B.B.'s cave remains his favorite spot in the summer. It is nice and cool and a very private place for him to hang out. He will go in there in the morning after eating and you will usually not see him again until the evening when it cools off a bit.
Katrina
Female Snow Leopard Born: June 20, 1996 Arrived: August 1996
Katrina will be 14 years old this month! Katrina really enjoyed this past winter. While the keepers and interns were adding more and more layers to try to keep from freezing, Katrina was out running around and playing in the snow. She loved every minute of it! Now that the cold has gone the heat has begun, Katrina likes to nap in her cave behind her waterfall during the day.
Sasha
Female Black Leopard Born: June 21, 1993 Arrived: January 1994
Sasha will be 16 years old this month! Sasha loves to spend her day lying in the tall grass in the sun. She enjoys when people come to visit her and sit by her habitat. She will usually come over and rub on the fence and then lay down and take a nap.
